Amanda Bossard graduated from high school in 1992. She then began her studies in marine science at Alaska Pacific University, Anchorage. Bossard started her career in the commercial seafood industry in 1999, when she started working on board the F/V Sunset 65' halibut schooner turned to salmon tender with Murat Aritan. She has been an commercial fisherman from 1993. Bossard married Aritan in 1999 and the pair have come together to defend their businesses. They are both in favor of conservative and profitable managing of the renewable resources for seafood. Otolith opened its direct market wholesale distributorship in Philadelphia after Bossard was able to return from home with her two daughters, Bella 3 years old and Andre one, to Philadelphia. Its name is a sweet reference to her deep expertise in fish biology as well as her husband's long connection to the industry of seafood, often leaving them separated for five months or more at a time while they focus on the environment and financial goals that reflect both their independence and dedication to the community in which they call home. Bossard's daughter Isabella 12 years old and son Andre aged 10 return annually each year to Southeast Alaska to work in the deckhand position in the wild salmon season.
